First Street Burgers is a longtime East LA staple that blends a straightforward fast-food vibe with touches of local character, making it feel like more than just a typical burger joint. Located on 1st Street, this spot has evolved over the years, now featuring a modest patio area that invites a mix of regulars and newcomers to linger beyond just grabbing food to go.

What stands out here is the menu's balance between classic American staples and some regionally inspired twists. The burgers, including options like the Bacon Cheeseburger and the hefty Colossal Burger, come well-sized and are served with crispy, thick-cut fries—often with a side of chili cheese topping if you're feeling indulgent. Breakfast items also draw a steady crowd, especially plates like steak and eggs or the bacon breakfast burrito, which reflect a hearty start to the day favored by locals. The huevos rancheros and beans offer a homestyle touch that doesn’t feel canned or generic, highlighting the neighborhood’s roots.

The atmosphere at First Street Burgers is casual and inviting but with a noticeably East L.A. sensibility. The staff treat guests like familiar faces, adding a welcoming tone that fits the area’s community feel. This isn’t the kind of place for a quiet, leisurely dinner but rather a stop for a dependable, flavorful meal – especially mornings and early afternoons when the breakfast items bring in families and workers alike.

Prices skew a bit higher than some other fast food joints in the neighborhood, which might be something to keep in mind if you’re feeding a group, but portions tend to be generous. The fact that the lettuce on burgers is served as whole leaves rather than shredded adds a small yet noticeable quality detail.

Overall, First Street Burgers is best for visitors looking for a no-frills, solid meal with familiar flavors but made with care reflective of East L.A.’s food culture. It’s ideal for breakfast seekers, burger lovers, and anyone wanting a simple, hearty meal while soaking up a bit of the neighborhood’s everyday life.

It's been couple of years I have been at First Street Burgers at the time the burgers were very good and others items were good. I bought my wife to get a burger and show her around the area. The restaurant have gone many changes since I have been many years ago. The restaurant look nice it have a patio. We decided to order a cheeseburger combo and hamburger Combo. They call our number them I pick our food from the counter. The food looks very good then I a bite of my fries they were very crispy and have that crunch that I really like. The cheeseburger was very good and juicy and the flavors were amazing. My wife enjoy her hamburger Combo very much.

This review is from someone that has enjoy their breakfast ham and eggs sandwiches since 1996. No matter how long it takes me to come back here since I no longer live in California. This place still has its original taste and takes me back to my childhood. I really love coming here and eating two or three ham and egg sandwiches.

Food is real good, especially the chorizo con huevo, and breakfast sandwiches, the breakfast burritos con frijoles, must try. The burger combos go out fresh with nice size fries, and all at a reasonable price. Last but not least the entire staff treats you like family, the owner is an awsome man.

It was ok, the food is little pricey for it being East LA. The burgers are good. They have lettuce leafs not shredded lettuce which is a plus. They usto have friend zuccinis now they dont. Overall i paid almost $40 bucks to feed 2 adults and a 6 year old.

My favorite order is the pastrami madness combo. The pastrami is fresh and not overly salty. Plus, the reasonably priced meal comes with a drink and perfectly seasoned chilli cheese fries. It's enough food for the next day! I'd also like to say that the employees are very courteous and friendly which makes it a delight to return as often as I can-this includes the awesome cooks who really make their orders very presentable and delicious!!!
